In so many projects that I have delivered one thing everyone wants to see if a map! Maps are a great visual tool; it is something people can immediately get a handle on. Power BI now ships with four true map options, there are other options including the famous Sand Dance, but the focus of this video is on the four maps in the main tool.
Bing Maps
Mapbox
ESRI Maps
Azure Maps
Maps are a challenge in Power BI, a well-built map can immeasurably improve a report while a poor one will derail a business. so, think through what you are trying to show and make sure you pick a map that works. Maps MUST be “at-a-glance” friendly meaning if they’re not immediately clear to someone who isn’t up to their neck in the data, they are a serious risk to your initiative. Always ask someone outside of a project to assess a map.
