When you first start using Power BI for any data invariably you will come across wide, flat data sources (typically Excel or CSV), when you have these sources, it is sensible to help yourself by using “Do not Load” and “Reference” to be able to get the standard import built and then build further tables on top of that.

Reporting Layer – Applying Context

Visualisations are presented within Power BI that benefits from having some context applied to them. In this video, we show the benefit of adding the mean and standard deviations to a visual immediately makes understanding clearer while also maximising the benefit that your audience will get from it. Trends become much clearer and being able to ascertain the overall good vs bad of your data.
