It’s been an amazing year when the first decision was taken that this would be something I would do initially as a side project. I never dreamed of the path I would end up taking. My initial plan was to have somewhere I could do some good by helping people understand the figures being put out there. Initially, I listened to friends and family about Covid-19 and how the media just didn’t make sense. Now I want us to be a beacon of right in the world. All too often, I am left feeling a little worried about analytics I see, the nature of Analysis is to aggregate, and that aggregation depersonalises and dehumanises. It is our responsibility simply as Human beings to ensure we never lose sight of that.
Let’s all remain aware that our analysis ultimately will affect people, and while that does not always have to be positive, we should make sure the humanity of what we are doing is maintained. After all, great processes rely on great people doing them, not managing them!
