KPI’s are a core function of many businesses, and over the last few weeks, we have mentioned that it is easy for KPI’s to take over the business rather than supporting it. When you are working on developing your KPI’s take some time to consider what behaviours they drive; make sure that your KPI’s are an asset to your business, not a hindrance.
Looking at the issues identified in the video, it is easy to see how a business can become misaligned by focusing on its KPI’s. Taking the time and understanding the drivers and the human will to succeed and have positive outcomes means that we must set our KPI’s to be hard but ultimately understand them when they are not made. It cannot be their end of the world!
